Hello, everybody, welcome back, welcome to day one of my Valentine's, not
Valentine's day, whoa, no. Welcome to day one of my Mother's Day theme week
where I'm gonna be uploading a Mother's Day theme recipe every single day this
week from Monday to Friday. So we're starting off with
a Mother's Day cake, which is a raspberry vanilla cake with "Happy
Mother's Day" written on top, and I am going to show you this super easy
hack, on how to pipe lettering on cake, so easy and fail-safe, literally
anybody can do this so don't worry,
you
don't need a study hand, anybody can do this. So let's get started. First to
bake the cake you wanna place some butter and sugar in a bowl and beat with an
electric mixer
until
it's pale and fluffy. Add some vanilla bean seeds and eggs, one at a time,
mixing with each addition. In a separate bowl, mix together some flour, baking
soda, and salt.
Then
add this to the butter mixture in two additions, alternating with some sour
cream.
Divide
the batter between two greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.
Bake
at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25-30 minutes,
or
until a skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean. Once they're cool you wanna
slice the tops and bottoms off of each cake to create a flat cake, and remove
any excess browning.
So
this is just gonna make it look prettier when you slice it. Then slice each
cake in half to create two layers per cake.
Throw
some raspberry jam onto the cake and then spread some vanilla buttercream for
the filling on top. And I'll have the recipe for the buttercream included in this
cake recipe which is linked in the description box below.
Then
repeat with the other two layers of the cake and then coat the cake evenly
in
some more buttercream. Then you wanna print out from your computer any kind of
message that you'd like to pipe onto the cake. I place it on a small baking sheet
and then place the sheet of
parchment paper on top and secure it to the baking sheet with some buttercream.
And
then place the buttercream in a piping bag fitted with a really small round
piping tip, and then just trace the message with the buttercream, going over it
multiple times to create thick letters.
